Its founder, Dr Fiona Schneider, has many years of experience of hearing girls’ and women’s life stories as well as treating their immediate medical needs.
With today’s high expectation on teenagers to achieve set standards, they can often feel internally isolated. This isolation can lead to further risks or life-limiting behaviours such as self harming. It can also leave them more vulnerable to the possibility of exploitation by others.
“God heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.
— Psalm 147
Bright Star can help. Teenagers are not alone and can be helped to connect to others and their true selves. They can shine brightly now as well as in the future.
An introductory meeting with Fiona will help you to establish the right direction of exploration for you and the time period envisaged for this.
Depending on your personality and the scope of discussion, you may also find you prefer group work or choose to use this alongside individual sessions.
